Le Mont d'Arbois - Mont Joux

Moderate DoloPaws route-audited
Le Mont d'Arbois - Mont Joux

Photo: Mairie de Megève, via Cirkwi (Apidae)

A balcony loop above Megève, waymarked in yellow and red as a variant of the Tour du Pays du Mont-Blanc. From the Mont d'Arbois gondola base the route climbs via the Planellet hamlet to the top station and the Ideal 1850 restaurant, then follows the crest past the Bettex gondola up to Mont Joux, before dropping past the chalets and little Lac de Joux, through forest to the Tornay alpages and back. Along the way: one of the valley's last working farms amid gentians and alpine flowers, views over the golf course, and from the top the great sweep of the Mont Blanc massif. An official Megève circuit, dogs welcome.

Good to know

The leash is mandatory here, that's the town's official rule. In summer the gondola can lift you to the top station and spare the first 570 m of climbing, a real option for seniors or heat-sensitive dogs, but confirm dog access on board with the lift staff before relying on it. No fountains are mapped on the loop, so carry water for both of you; the crest is open and sun-exposed for long stretches. Dirt paths throughout, not stroller country. Signposted from May to the end of November, weather permitting.
